Almost Christmas

So- Christmas is fastly approaching and I of course have a million gifts that I still need to buy and wrap. Of course, Friday is the last day before winter break and I am going to have to tote Connor around. If only a 17 month old knows how to sit quietly and allow mommy to shop. :)

It's so great to see Connor enjoy the holidays. He loves the lights on the tree and wants us to turn them on every morning and every evening when we get home. He loves seeing pictures and figurines of Santa and even says "Ho,ho,ho", but going up to Santa is another question. Just ask Steve who had to take a wonderful picture with Santa in early December.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to use that picture for our Christmas cards, so I had to try to sit Connor down to take a picture. Fortunately, we were able to get that done. I'll put pics up soon.

On Saturday, we're going home for my Grandma's b-day party. It should be a lot of fun since I haven't seen that side of the family in awhile.

Happy Halloween

Connor had a great time trick or treating last Friday. Nonna and Papa came up from Ohio to join in the fun. Connor started his day by going to daycare with his dragon costume. Around 10:30, I drove to Paddock to see the Halloween parade. When I got there, Connor was already dressed and ready to go. The infant and toddler room started on their way around the different hallways. Connor was okay at first walking with the toddlers and then ended up wanting me to hold him.
After the day was over, we came home and waited for Nonna and Papa to arrive. Around 6:30, we headed out. Connor was very excited to go up to all of the houses and wait for his treats. We only went up to the houses that we knew because I didn't want people to think we were going out just to get the candy.
We ended up coming home around 7:30 and Connor had a hard time wanting to take his costume off.
I promise to put pictures up soon.

Connor loves doing laundry

Connor looks forward to every Sunday when Steve and I do laundry. Normally, he takes all the clothes out of the basket and throws them on the ground. We like to think that he's trying to help. This weekend, Steve taught him how to get in the laundry basket. He really thinks it's a great time.

The first time at the orchard

Last weekend, we went to the apple orchard. Connor really enjoyed himself. He saw goats, bunnies, and llammas. He especially loved running around showing everyone how big he is.

Connor loves to read

Connor has been listening to people read since he was in my belly. Now that he's 14 months old, he loves to sit and read with anyone who has a book. So- it's no wonder that newspaper inserts and other junk mail has been such a success for him.

Mama Monday

So following Erin's Mama Monday- here are my top toys that have lasted through the years. Connor's only 13 months old- so the years aren't there yet, but there are a few that he plays with on a daily basis.

1. Books are definitely top on the list. Connor loves looking and reading flap books and any book that makes a sound. We get a kick out of seeing him with his books. Pictures will follow.
2. Any type of ball. Connor is a true boy. He loves to throw, dribble, and kick any ball we give him.
3. Big lego blocks. He got these for his birthday and he loves to sit in the family room and put things together.
4. Cars. Like I said, Connor's a boy. He enjoys having the cars "vroom" around the house.

Hopefully- there will be more as he grows older. I try to find toys that will allow him to imagine.

School Bells

So- school started on Tuesday and it's busy as always.

Connor absolutely loves daycare. When I drop him off, he doesn't look back. He loves Debbie, Dawn, Deneen, and Freda. When I get there at 5, he has a hard time saying goodbye.

It makes me feel so good inside to know that he's at a place that he loves. I would hate to have him at a place where he didn't want to be.

I'll have pictures of him at daycare soon.

Ten on Tuesday

Here's my Ten on Tuesday...

1- I start school tomorrow. :(

2- Connor is already 13 months old going on 2. The tantrums are already starting. God help us all.

3. Connor decided to get an early start today (5:30- I guess he wanted to make sure he was ready for school to start.

4. Our cross country team is looking good for the season. Go Big Reds.

5. Ohio State plays this weekend. Go Bucks!

6. Connor's hair grows like a weed- I feel like I just cut it.

7. I need to learn more about blogging. Why do all the other blogs look so good? What do you all do?

8. I still haven't scrapbooked Connor's 1st year. Who has the time to scrapbook?

9. We need to get to the pool before it closes!

10. I'm not ready for summer to end. :(

Energizer Bunny

Connor has been the energizer bunny for the last few days. Thursday and Friday of last week were crazy. He was nonstop. Every time I thought he needed a nap and put him down, he would babble and soon get tired of being in his crib, so he'd cry. Then I'd pick him up and he would run around the house again. Work is not going to start soon enough...
On other notes, Steve, Connor, and I went to Paddock's Open House today and it took Connor a little while to adjust to everyone. It's crazy how they forget the people who they have seen almost every day during the school year. I was glad that they had it because I was really worried how he would react on Wednesday when I start back.

Oh no... school's starting

I'm really not looking forward to school starting. We have an Open House for Connor's day care on Monday and then he'll be there on Wed and Thursday while I have my PD days. Then on the 2nd, it all starts for real. I hope Connor remembers all the ladies. I'm glad we get to go before hand. Connor will be going to his first cross country meet on Tuesday. Hopefully he'll do okay.

Little Italy

On Friday, Connor and I traveled to Cleveland for the Feast of the Assumption. There were a ton of people, and Connor did so well. He didn't jump at the bells that were really loud, and didn't get shy with all of his family coming up to him. I was so proud.
This was the first feast when my Grandma Fran wasn't there. It was really weird because both of my aunts weren't there because it would have been really hard. It wasn't the same.
He had a better time at night, but was still a little restless. He ended up taking a half hour to go to sleep, but other than that slept in the pack and play. Hooray!
We brought Connor's wagon back to Michigan and he was really excited. He's able to see more and likes the freedom.
Well- school's starting in a week and a half, and I am definitely not looking forward to it. We will definitely be enjoying these last few days.

Mama Monday

So- while I'm on summer break, I decided that I'm going to participate in the Mama Monday.

Here it goes..

Connor is 13 months old and we have been able to get a consistent schedule since the second week of summer break. I'm definitely not looking forward to school starting since that means I have to go to work and leave Connor at day care.

- Connor wakes up around 7:30-9:00. (what a great sleeper). He has a bottle and plays for a little big while I have my breakfast.
- A half hour later, we try to do some errands or go to a playgroup. We have enjoyed the library and the teacher's play group so far. Connor normally lasts around an hour or so before we need to go back and eat some breakfast.
- Breakfast is around 10:30-11:00. Then we play for a little bit before he goes down for a 1 1/2 to 2 hour nap.
- During nap time, I am normally on the computer, laying out (have to with this MI weather), cleaning, or reading
- After Connor wakes up, he'll get a bottle and we'll play for a little bit.
- If we weren't able to go out in the morning because he was crabby, then we'll do our errands then.
- Some days Connor will take two naps, but for the most part, it's just one. We also normally go on a walk with the dog or play outside. We also eat lunch sometime during this time. (1:30-4:30)
- At 5:15, we go outside to wait for daddy to come home. This is Connor's favorite time.
- Steve will normally feed Connor while I prepare dinner.
- Connor will normally play until 7:30-8:00 before Steve takes him upstairs for bedtime. (Sometimes a bath will happen)
- After Connor goes to bed, I normally go out for a run while Steve cleans up and goes on the computer.

We end up going to bed around 10:00.

Dog Days of Summer

Connor and I are enjoying our last days of summer. We're going to head to the pool since it's been quite awhile. He's been a little cranky these few days so I'm hoping things will get better. We're staying home this wekeend- which I'm quite relieved. We're traveling to Ohio next Friday for the Feast. It should be interesting since he was only a month old the last time he went.

Yoozers

So- this is going to be a long one...
We went home this weekend and Connor was a wreck both Friday and Saturday night. On Friday night, he was up from 1:15-4:00. I felt like he was an infant all over again. It was horrible. On Saturday, he woke up around 11 because my mom's dog kept barking. He ended up sleeping with us which made our sleeping nonexistent.
We did have some good moments though-
Connor was able to go to the pool on Saturday and loved every moment of it. My parent's pool have an infant pool that allows the kids to walk around like it's a beach. He loved it. Then he had a birthday party on Sunday. After the inital shyness he experienced at the beginning, he ran all over the place. he also got a wagon that he absolutely fell in love with.

Summer's coming to an end

So- I've realized that summer is coming to an end. Poor Connor is going to have a rude awakening at the end of August when he has to wake up at 6. His sleeping in to 8 or 9 is going to end. :( I still want to take him the the sprinkler park before the summer ends. I think he'll have a great time.
Things have been going well so far. We have been going to the pool, library play dates, and going to many different stores. We're going to Ohio this weekend for the family's version of Connor's 1st b-day party. It should be interesting.

Need a change

So- I need something different. I've been off for a month or so and I'm getting quite bored. Now- I love hanging out with Connor and he seems to be having fun. But- there's only so many times I can do this. It was fun for the first month- but I have a whole month left. Well- I think I'll have to look on the internet for some inspiring things. If anyone looks at this blog and is a mom- can you give me some hints.

Little Sleep Weekend

So- we went to my parents house in Ohio this past weekend for my cousin's graduation. The two nights that we were there- Connor had a really difficult time sleeping. On Friday, he woke up crying hysterically. We didn't have any Tylonel, so we hoped for the best. He finally went to sleep. Then- on Sat., he woke up within an hour of going to sleep. We ended up having him sleep with us. I was so ready to go home after those two nights. Now on Tuesday- we are still catching up on the sleep that we lost over the weekend.

Other than that- things have been going well. We have been going to play group and the pool.

July 17

So...it's been awhile. Connor and I have been really busy. (Not really) Connor celebrated his first birthday last Friday. He had his birhtday party on Sunday and loved eating his cake. He's been enjoying himself in the pool, and I feel like he'll try to swim before summer is over. We're going to Ohio this weekend to see my cousin and aunt and uncle. I haven't seen them in over a year and they're really excited to meet Connor for the first time.

I really need to get some pictures up- but my computer is horrible and it'll have to wait until I get back to school. Well- I'm going to surf the net a little more since everyone's asleep. :)

July 7

So I haven't written lately, so let me catch up on what has been going on. Last week, we were pretty busy. We went to the park with Peggy and Josie on Wednesday and took two more walks that day. I was getting cabin fever.
On Thursday, we hung out at home and I was able to get an hour of sun. On Friday, it was the 4th of July, so we went over to John's mom's house and had fun at the park and with all the other kids.
Today, is Monday, and we went to story time. We had a lot of fun and came home to some of my co-workers working on my patio. I'm so excited! Hopefully it will be done by Connor's 1st birthday party. Connor's sleeping right now, so I'm able to surf the internet.

July 1

So- Connor woke up at 4:00 this morning. Yikes. Steve and I still don't know why he woke up so early, but we gave him some food, let him play around for a little bit and he finally went back to bed at 5:15. I woke him up around 9 to go to our play group with the teachers at Milan. He had a lot of fun and we ended up coming back around 12:30.
He went on a walk and then he finally went down for a nap around 2:30. This weekend we're going to go to John's house to celebrate his birthday. It should be a lot of fun.

First Time- June 30

So- I've decided to blog, so I can keep an account of Connor's summer days. This is his first summer and he loves every minute of it.

Today we went to the library for story time, but it was unfortunately canceled because of the holiday. We played for a little bit until I saw that he was getting tired. We're going to try to go to Kohls, Target, and Old Navy today.

The fireworks are on Wednesday, and we may go see them.
